Good Internet domain names are hard to come by and, while most people don't realize it, the proper domain name can actually make your web site easier to find. OTFB will help you with selection of a domain name (if you don't already have one) and register the domain name for you. OTFB takes precautions to protect your domain name from those who might try to steal it from you. We administer the domain name and notify you well in advance when renewal is due so that the registration does not expire.

We've seen many domains expire because the owner registered the site themselves, then missed a renewal notice because the email address used by the registrant is no longer current (or because they didn't understand that domain registrations must be renewed periodically). By handling domain administration and renewals for you, OTFB ensures that you needn't worry about domain expiration expirations.

Precautionary Note: Some unscrupulous web hosts will register a domain name for you but register it to themselves instead of listing your organization or business as the domain owner. If you then want to move your web site to a better host, you find that they will not release the domain name to you. You're locked in to their service, like it or not. When OTFB registers a domain name for you as our client, it's registered to YOU. We simply administer it, keeping the registration current and up to date.

OTFB is not a 'web host' and we don't care where you host your site; we'll be glad to provide our domain management services, including web site development and maintenance, for your domain no matter where it is hosted. Some services of OTFB are easier to provide if your site is served from our servers, but there is no extra charge to have your site on the OTFB servers.

The Domain Name System (DNS) is what translates 'yourDomain.com' into an Internet Protocol (IP) Address so that web browsers, mail servers, and so on, can find your domain on the Internet. It is an essential part of all Internet services. OTFB uses multiple DNS servers, not just the minimum two required, including one in Europe so that users all over the world can be assured of finding your domain.
